Point Pleasant is a small historical town that serves as the seat of Mason County. Point Pleasant was made famous by the 1774 Battle led by Col. Andrew Lewis and Lord Dunmore, the Colonial Governor of Virginia against the native tribes known as "Lord Dunmore's War". Point Pleasant is also known for the legend of the "Mothman" and the Silver Bridge disaster in the 1960s.
