In as much as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to me.
— Matthew 25:40
We visit sites, meet with families, and assign a skilled team for each job. The primary people we serve are elderly or disabled neighbors on very limited incomes whose homes have become unsafe for them. Our project managers oversee the work to ensure quality and code compliance. This is how we identify and meet the needs of our community.
The year-round needs of our communities exceed what our teams can do. We pray that we can raise enough support to continue to put skilled teams together. Our plan is to open additional site locations in West Virginia this year. Longer term, our prayer is to raise enough support so we can lower, or even eliminate costs for teams to do their work.
We are a Christian-based non-governmental organization, supported in part by Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, other Christian denominations, and individual donations. Such partnerships empower us to provide discipleship to those in need. The groups we recruit come from churches of various faiths, as well as universities.
No, we won't put you in a cold barn! Our housing locations around WV are associated with local churches. Each has shower facilities and fully-equipped kitchens. Often, there is interaction with local congregations, including worship, Bible Schools, conversations, and cookouts.
As part of our team, you also have a day off to enjoy beautiful West Virginia, where you may decide to go whitewater rafting, hike, picnic, swim, visit an exhibition coal mine, go to an outdoor theater, visit one of our State Parks or just hang out in the mountains!
