...in as much as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to me.

Overview of our ministry

What We Do

Our Vision for 2022

Our Vision for 2022

We identify needs within the communities in which we serve, and then assign work teams to address these needs. We do this by visiting the sites, meeting the families, and placing the right team on the job depending on their skillset. Our primary customers are elderly, or disabled neighbors on a very limited income whose homes have become unsafe for them. Our project managers oversee the work to ensure quality, and code compliance as necessary.

Our Vision for 2022

Unfortunately the needs far exceed our abilities to address them all. We are dependent on teams to do the work, but referrals come in year-round. We pray that we can raise enough support to be able to address dire needs when we have no teams available. We also plan to open additional site locations in West Virginia this year. Our prayer is to be able to raise enough support to eventually lower, or even eliminate costs for teams to come here and serve.

Who We Are

Our Vision for 2022

Housing Your Team

The West Virginia Ministry of Advocacy and Workcamps (WVMAW) is a Christian based non-governmental organization, that is supported in part by Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, other Christian denominations, and individual donations. These partnerships enable us to provide discipleship to those in need. The groups we recruit come from churches of various faiths, as well as from universities.

Housing Your Team

No we won't put you in a cold barn! Our housing locations around WV are all associated with local churches, and each has shower facilities and fully-equipped kitchens. Often, there is interaction with the local congregations, including worship, Bible Schools, conversations and cookouts. Housing locations and details below.

You also have a day off to enjoy beautiful West Virginia, where you may decide to go whitewater rafting, hike, picnic, swim, visit an exhibition coal mine, go to an outdoor theater, visit one of our State Parks or just hang out in the mountains!

COVID-19 Guidelines and Policy 2022

As you can expect, we get a multitude of questions about COVID-19 from teams wishing to, or planning to come work with us.

We will keep you informed of any local protocols before you arrive, such as mandated masking in public areas, vaccination requirements for entry, etc.  These are all subject to last minute changes in the communities you will serve.

As for other protocols, we let YOU set those.  You will be traveling together and living together, so you need to determine your own comfort levels for requirements.  You will be the only team in the accommodations.

Work site: Most work is outdoors.  You may choose to mask.  It will not be required.  If working indoors you may choose to mask.  If the homeowner requests masking we will require it.

Departure: We ask that you clean and disinfect your dorm rooms, kitchen and bathrooms so they are ready for the group that comes in behind you.
