Point Pleasant is a small historical town that serves as the seat of Mason County. Point Pleasant was made famous by the 1774 Battle led by Col. Andrew Lewis and Lord Dunmore, the Colonial Governor of Virginia against the native tribes known as "Lord Dunmore's War". Point Pleasant is also known for the legend of the "Mothman" and the Silver Bridge disaster in the 1960s.
Groups stay in the Presbyterian Church in Point Pleasant. Two Sunday school rooms are converted into dormitories with bunk beds to accommodate approximately 18 people each. There are four showers.
There is a fully equipped kitchen with two stoves, a commercial refrigerator, upright freezer, and microwave, silverware, plates, cups, pots, pans, and cooking utensils.
Although the church building pretty much takes up the lot, there is space nearby in which to walk, play, and relax.
Point Pleasant has a number of pizza places, sandwich shops, and restaurants within a few minutes of the church. Groceries, ice, gas and other necessities are also close.
